Job Description
POSITION: PAYABLE ANALYST
The Payable Analyst is responsible for managing the cycle of accounts payable activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures. This role involves processing invoices, resolving discrepancies, maintaining vendor relationships, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, verify, and process vendor invoices for payment, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents (3-way match) to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors via various methods in accordance with payment terms and company policies.
- Ensure timely payments to avoid late fees and maintain good vendor relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in the accounting system.
- Reconcile vendor statements to internal records and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and reconcile accounts payable ledgers and related balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies identified during the reconciliation process.
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing accruals, reconciling accounts, and providing necessary documentation.
- Ensure all accounts payable transactions are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare and analyze accounts payable aging reports and other relevant reports. Investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Utilize accounting software and other relevant system effectively.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Not less than 2 years of proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
- Knowledge of ERP Systems e.g., SAP, Oracle etc.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- ICAN certifications or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
